N. 'Siam Blue Hardy' is the first DNA proven intersubgeneric waterlily cross between Nymphaea and Brachyceras.

It was created by Pairat Songpanich of Thailand in 2007. It has purple/blue blossoms that stand high above water like Brachyceras. It's syncarpous carpels, smooth pad edges and horizontal growth are like Nymphaea. It's pads are green with mild flecking. The specific parentage has not yet been disclosed.

Perry Slocum always claimed that many of his crosses were a direct result of intersubgeneric crosses but there was no way at the time to do the DNA testing.
